Valentine Favors.

Yes this is a late post, Valentine’s Day has passed but it’s been a hectic week and I’ve barely got a chance to write this. You can see above the valentine favors I did for my son’s class which I mention here and here, all 30 of them! Yep, good thing these tiny crochet hearts were fast to crochet up after making a few of them. I did run out of time to come up with a cute clever saying, So we just settle for a simple ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ on the tags. With school, mommy duties, maintaining the house down I’m happy I was able to make these for my son’s class, I hope they enjoy them as much as I did crocheting them. Nail Art.

I’ve recently learn about nail art and fell in love with it because it is out of the ordinary, nontraditional, and how you can express yourself thru it. I came across AstroWifey’s blog and learn she was from Chicago! How cool is that?! So I’d defiantly had to contact her to do my nails. I first met her at an event where she was giving out free complimentary manicure’s for the Bleedy Heart Project (more on that later). She is a freelance nail artist who is self-taught and has a great passion for her work. You can learn more about her here and check out her nail art!

I gave her the concept of incorporating my love for knitting and my Etsy shop’s name ‘irokmimi’ on my nails and this is what she came out with, I honestly wasn’t sure of what the outcome might be but AstroWifey came thru and I love it! You can check out more pictures here!

I thought I show everyone a sneak peek of the crochet heart pin’s I’ve been working on for my son’s valentine favors. If you didn’t get a chance to read about it, you can here. They are still not finished, still have a lot to do this weekend! eek! I’ve been pretty busy with school and mommy duties; I might have to wait until everyone is off to bed for no distractions.

KAWS

While visiting my mom in Dallas, Texas last month I learned KAWS exhibition was at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. I was so excited I called my boyfriend and told him about it, of course right away he said to me go check it out! This was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up, since most of his works are usually shown in Los Angeles and New York. So I’d mention it to my mom since I was out there, we have to go to the Modern Art Museum! And we happen to go on a Sunday when admission was free! Even better. It was a 45 min drive to Fort Worth, but trust me it was well worth it. As you know or for those who are not familiar with KAWS, he started off as a graffiti artist, He then pursue to received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 1996. He is known to X-ed out eyes and/or hands of his animated characters; familiar characters he has altered such as Spongebob Squarepants, Mickey Mouse, and even The Simpsons. His exhibition is running until the 19th of this month at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, I highly recommend to go out and see it!

Sneakers!

haha yes do you see all those sneakers/shoes? There’s a lot more where those came from, I am dating a sneakersnob! (haha no offense babe) Nothing but Nike SBs! I honestly thought I had a lot of shoes but I’d think he’s beat me to it. Though since I can remember I always had the latest sneakers; Reebok, K swiss, but especially Nike’s. I never consider myself a sneakerhead and I probably only have about 6 pairs of Nike’s or so today. Dating a sneakerhead somewhat has its perks because we started collecting sneakers for our daughter. We were lucky enough to find four of her Nike’s at a discount price at 15 bucks each! Now come on, Who would pass that up right?

I have to say my favorite ones we got our daughter are the leopard white/purple ones and black/beige with pink Nike check. We always had strangers compliment on her sneakers. I’d think it’s that time again to go sneaker shopping for her

I would also love to start a vintage shoe collection for her, I saw the picture down below from cakies and just fell in love. Check out her blog! Back to school!

Hey there! So a couple of things I’d like to share. It has been a few long days but everything is looking on the brighter side. First off I’d like to share that I am a return college student! Yah! I was finally able to register for this spring semester. And what can I say I am pretty stoked about it! I am also a little nervous as it being a new transition from a full-time mommy to also being a part-time student. I didn’t want to overwhelm myself; two classes is good for now.

School is kicking my butt already! I’m taking a math class and let’s just say it’s like starting all over! Being I haven’t practice it in a longtime. I am glad when it comes to math my boyfriend and son have the brains for it. Ha so if I have any trouble I know I can count on them for help.

I finally received the pin backs for my son’s valentine favors (you can read about it here). I order them from Etsy, I love that you can also buy supplies for anything you might need. They have just about everything! So I cannot wait to start finishing them off. Keep an eye for an updated post.

Now to get started on my math homework. eek!

Thinking about Valentines Day yet??

Well have you thought about what to give your love one for Valentine’s Day?

Yes I know it’s about 3 weeks away! but I tend to procrastinate when it comes to birthdays, anniversaries, holidays etc. So I’m slowly working on changing that, starting with Valentine’s Day this year.

I’d really like to include my kids by making a special DIY package for them. I have a couple of ideas running thru my head. Yesterday while at target I walked thru the dollar aisle; Now come on who doesn’t love the dollar aisle right? I saw a couple of things I can use. So I will be back at target next week.

Yarnbombing.

So I was recently checking out ishknits also know as Jessie Hemmons. She is Philadelphia’s yarnbomber. Definitely one talented artist! If you already have not heard of her, check out her blog here and here! I first learned of her thru the commissioned Urban Outfitters project she did. I then came across her blog and seen all the yarnbombing she has done across Philadelphia. Having no idea what yarnbombing was or even of its existence. I got inspired by her yarnbombing, my love for it has grown and already having a love for street art. Since being an admired of graffiti art, plus having a boyfriend who was a graffiti artist has pushed me to try yarnbombing. (There’s even a whole site about it here!)

Surrounded with inspiration by his talent I thought hey why not try it! I have so many ideas running in my head that I have yet to full-filled. Thou being a full-time mother has limited my time but this is the year to follow thru! in that note here is

First snowstorm!

Whew yesterday’s snowstorm was our first of the season! Definitely an evening to knit up a storm! It sure pushed me to crochet more of the tiny crochet hearts that I’ve been working on for my son’s valentine’s favors which I mention here. I still have a couple more to crochet but since I’m a perfectionist (yes I know no one is perfect but I do tend to beat myself up about it If I am not 100 percent satisfied) So most likely I will crochet a few extra to replace some. That’s a little over 30 tiny crochet hearts! Eek! So glad these are fast to crochet. I still have to finish them off by weaving in the loose ends and adding the pin backs. (Which I still have to purchased!) I hope I’ll be able to find them at my local craft store if not Etsy or Amazon will do.

Just added to my esty shop! Please excuse the pictures, as soon as I turned on my camera it died out! From our recent mini-vacy to Dallas, Tx. My son’s iPod touch had to do for now. I think it’s time to start saving those dimes and nickles for a fancy camera. But in the meantime check out the new scarves I have added to my shop!
