haha a crochet hooker that is…I have seen these humor drawings reference to crochet although I just checked out the blog ObeyCrochet.
A hooker who wanted to share the love for crochet because she couldn’t find anything on the internet. There were more love for the knittas out there and ‘Instead of usually eating and watching Arrested Development’ in Stephanie Toppin words she created ObeyCrochet. I am working on a project at the moment, it’s a slow in progress as I try to fit it in my crazy schedule. I really do give credit to those who are doing it all, especially the mommy’s.

Yes these crochet flowers again, I found the tutorial on YouTube and they are simple to crochet. I will be crocheting more! Hehe you can see a little someone in the picture.
Yes this is a late post, Valentine’s Day has passed but it’s been a hectic week and I’ve barely got a chance to write this. You can see above the valentine favors I did for my son’s class which I mention here and here, all 30 of them! Yep, good thing these tiny crochet hearts were fast to crochet up after making a few of them. I did run out of time to come up with a cute clever saying, So we just settle for a simple ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ on the tags. With school, mommy duties, maintaining the house down I’m happy I was able to make these for my son’s class, I hope they enjoy them as much as I did crocheting them. You can see my little models showing them off 🙂

So I was recently checking out ishknits also know as Jessie Hemmons. She is Philadelphia’s yarnbomber. Definitely one talented artist! If you already have not heard of her, check out her blog here and here! I first learned of her thru the commissioned Urban Outfitters project she did. I then came across her blog and seen all the yarnbombing she has done across Philadelphia. Having no idea what yarnbombing was or even of its existence. I got inspired by her yarnbombing, my love for it has grown and already having a love for street art. Since being an admired of graffiti art, plus having a boyfriend who was a graffiti artist has pushed me to try yarnbombing. (There’s even a whole site about it here!)
Surrounded with inspiration by his talent I thought hey why not try it! I have so many ideas running in my head that I have yet to full-filled. Thou being a full-time mother has limited my time but this is the year to follow thru! in that note here is

Whew yesterday’s snowstorm was our first of the season! Definitely an evening to knit up a storm! It sure pushed me to crochet more of the tiny crochet hearts that I’ve been working on for my son’s valentine’s favors which I mention here. I still have a couple more to crochet but since I’m a perfectionist (yes I know no one is perfect but I do tend to beat myself up about it If I am not 100 percent satisfied) So most likely I will crochet a few extra to replace some. That’s a little over 30 tiny crochet hearts! Eek! So glad these are fast to crochet. I still have to finish them off by weaving in the loose ends and adding the pin backs. (Which I still have to purchased!) I hope I’ll be able to find them at my local craft store if not Etsy or Amazon will do.

Knitting is usually misinterpret as if your grandmother knitting you a funky sweater for Christmas. But in today’s society a lot of people have taken interested in knitting and crocheting. They varied from different age groups. I’m a part of a knitting group ‘El Stitch y Bitch‘ we are primarily in our 20’s to 30’s. I was happy to learn that they even existed! Joining a group who carried the same interest as me. After a couple of group meetings I was eager to bring a friend/relative with but usually when I invite or mention to other’s about my hobby they often like to tease and say wow ‘we are getting old’. I often just gave a funny look. But in reality were not, it has just become more broaden and became another creative outlet for some of us.
Take the after school matters ‘Tejer y Poder‘ class that offers high school students to knit/crochet. I’m sure after taking this class students were amazed to have actually made something with their own two hands. I remember my grandmother would knit placements. Each time I visit my father’s place I would find one on his couch or table. They were all handmade by her. I wasn’t one of the lucky ones to have learned from her grandmother. I only knew her vaguely. I do regret not learning from her or hearing her stories on how she had learned herself. But I was lucky enough to been taught by my sister-in-law. She had knitted a couple of scarves for my daughter and even a blanket. I then knew I wanted to pick up the skill myself. For I can make something for my daughter and later teach her how to knit/crochet.

I have seen all over the internet world how knitting/crocheting is more than just knitting a hat or scarf. Other knitters/crochets have used their skilled to yarn bomb/protest/ or even make something for the needy. Which I often find inspiring, why not use your skill to make a difference? make a statement?! In that note read up on these awesome knitters who did just that!
I want to introduce you to an awesome group I am a part of El Stitch y Bitch. We are a group of 20-30 year old crafters, who love to knit, crochet, do embroidery, pretty much all types of crafts. One day my sister and I were at a Michaels’ store browsing; we decided to check out the knitting aisle. We were standing there feeling overwhelmed by how many hooks, needles, and various yarns with different textures and colors were available. We were discussing how much we both like to learn how to knit or crochet one day. But felt a bit timid by it. I’d had mention my sister-in-law has been knitting and crocheting for the past couple of years and so happens she was coming into town soon. She was generous enough to offer to teach me. A second trip to Michaels’ to buy my first hook and yarn and a single crochet and purl later I’d learn how to crochet and knit. Three years later I haven’t let go of a needle or hook ♥
